Wedding table sizes, and how many each seats
The six tables rental companies stock, with honest capacities, the floor space each really takes, and the linen that fits.
48-inch round tableSeats 6 comfortably, 7 at most. The small round: cocktail-hour seating, a sweetheart pair with room to spare, or six close friends.60-inch round tableSeats 8 comfortably, 10 at most. The default wedding table. Eight sit comfortably with room for chargers, glassware and a centrepiece.72-inch round tableSeats 10 comfortably, 12 at most. Ten guests a table means fewer tables, fewer centrepieces and fewer table numbers on a big guest list.84-inch round tableSeats 12 comfortably, 14 at most. The banquet round. Twelve fit, but conversation across the table gets hard — best for large family tables.6-foot banquet tableSeats 6 comfortably, 8 at most. Three a side, or eight with a place at each end. Joins end-to-end into long family-style tables.8-foot banquet tableSeats 8 comfortably, 10 at most. Four a side. Pushed together they make the long feasting tables that photograph so well in barns and tents.
